Pseudo Social?

Social networking, cell phone, various gadgets which cannot be kept track of by anyone are the favored materialistic things of todays middle aged and young. Whole day these ambitious souls are in the rat race and then when they have a bit of free time are almost always engaged into their cell phone or laptops or other gadgets. Looking around you can find people having earphones, headphones, blue-tooth, etc. they don't observe their surrounding don't interact with people around them but they are always connected to the so called social network of the far and sometimes unknown I am not saying that these are useless or advocating not to use it. Let me share a incident with u'll when I was in hostel on a new year's eve we were four friends in my room as it was nearing midnight everyone was busy with their respective cell phone furiously typing in sms and god knows what. I kept on observing the three of them for 15 mins and then told them if they have wished the whole world now we can wish each other happy new year. Then all of us realized that what we had missed and joyously wished each other.
This was just on incident. We sometimes don't even realize that we are doing this kind of behavior as it has now become our second nature.
It is not that all of us are like that but the problem will increase as the generation changes and they will incorporate these values. This is only my observation and there is no study or statistics from my side to support it.
But we should start to appreciate and observe our surrounding. It may make us more aware and vigilant.
